The DXA Scanner

The images and data produced by Bodycomp are made using a machine that is called a densitometer. The scanner produces an image of your body that is based upon the the amount of lean, fat and bone tissue it measures as the x-ray beam is passed through the body on top of the bed. This whole process is called dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. That's a mouthful to say so we often call the machine a dxa scanner and the whole process as getting a dxa scan.

DXA scanners are the industry standard for producing body composition and bone density scan results in medical, wellness and research settings.
