Vega Sport - Natural Plant-Based Performance Optimizer
I'm not a big fan of energy drinks - sure the caffeine and other stimulants give you a good kick, but the huge sugar or artificial sweetener hit and the awful flavour are not attractive to most of us. I typically use a bit of coffee pre-workout to get the energy levels up. However, I've found something better.
Vega Sport Performance Optimizer is a plant based pre-workout drink. It's great for replenishing electrolytes, reducing inflammation and boosts energy in a big way via a healthy dose of green tea, ginseng, brown rice syrup and other athletic hippie approved ingredients. It's designed to be mixed into cold water, but I also find it makes a great warm beverage when snow camping.
Functional Movement Screening
Earlier this week I went over to EJ Elements so that Rob Tubajon could put me through a Functional Movement Screening. The FMS is a way of checking fitness clients and athletes for pre-existing injury, poor range of motion or severe strength imbalance.
It allows trainers to identify problem areas before training related injury is induced and provides a clean metric for measuring improvement over time with regards to range of motion and balance.
The FMS includes the following 7 motions. Each one is scored from 0 to 3
Despite my questionable flexibility and inconsistent fitness routine I managed to score 16 out of a possible 21 points. Rob pointed out some range of motion issues in my left hip that I am trying to improve with stretching and lots of squats. If you want to get your FMS done, contact the fine folks at EJ Elements and they'll get you training smarter, not just harder.
